Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about TRON Energy, Bandwidth, SUN, and how to save up to 90% on network fees.

🌐 TRON Network Basics

TRON is a public blockchain designed for fast, high-throughput transactions. Every operation on the network — sending USDT (TRC-20), interacting with smart contracts, DeFi swaps — has a cost paid through two resources: Energy and Bandwidth.

If you don't have enough resources available, the network automatically burns TRX directly from your balance at a fixed rate, which can be significantly more expensive than renting.

SUN is the smallest unit of TRX, analogous to Satoshi for Bitcoin or Wei for Ethereum.

1 TRX = 1,000,000 SUN

Energy and Bandwidth rental prices are quoted in SUN per unit per day. For example, a rate of 100 SUN/Energy/day means renting 1,000,000 Energy for 1 day costs 100 TRX. Understanding SUN is key to comparing offers correctly.

Energy

Energy is the resource consumed every time a smart contract executes on the TRON network. Each computational step requires a certain amount of Energy.

OperationTypical Energy
USDT transfer (TRC-20) — active wallet~13,000 – 15,000
USDT transfer — new/unactivated wallet~27,000 – 32,000
DEX swap (SunSwap / JustSwap)~40,000 – 80,000
Complex DeFi interaction80,000 – 150,000+
🛡️ To safely cover any USDT transfer scenario, we recommend renting at least 32,000–65,000 Energy.

Without Energy, the TRON network burns TRX at the fixed rate of 210 SUN per unit of Energy directly from your balance.

⚠️ Example: a USDT transfer consuming 65,000 Energy → 65,000 × 210 SUN = 13,650,000 SUN = ~13.65 TRX in fees. For a new wallet it can exceed 28 TRX.

Compare this to renting 65,000 Energy at market rate (~85 SUN/day): the total cost is roughly 5–6 TRX — a saving of 60–80%.

There are three main ways:

1. Rent from an Energy Pool — pay a small amount of TRX to a pool that temporarily delegates Energy to your wallet. Prices typically range between 80 and 130 SUN/Energy/day. Ideal for occasional or one-time use — no locking of capital required.

2. Freeze TRX (Stake) — lock TRX via the TRON network to receive Energy proportional to the staked amount. Energy regenerates every 24 hours. Best for users who transact very frequently and want zero marginal cost per transaction.

3. Receive delegation — some exchanges and services delegate Energy to active users automatically.

💡 For most users, renting is the most cost-effective option. Compare pool prices →
📡 Bandwidth

Bandwidth (also called "Net") covers the byte size of each transaction on the blockchain. Unlike Energy — which is only consumed by smart contracts — Bandwidth is used by every transaction, including simple TRX transfers.

OperationTypical Bandwidth
TRX transfer~268 units
TRC-20 transfer (USDT)~345 units
Smart contract interaction~400 – 600 units
💡 Every TRON account receives 600 free Bandwidth units per day — enough for 1–2 simple transactions at no cost.

Without Bandwidth, the network charges 1,000 SUN (0.001 TRX) per unit consumed, deducted directly from your TRX balance. For occasional users, the daily free allowance is usually sufficient. It becomes relevant for:

  • High-volume traders or bots executing dozens of transactions per day
  • Exchange hot wallets processing large volumes
  • DeFi protocols making frequent on-chain state changes

Bandwidth can be rented from the same pools that offer Energy — search on TronScan.energy →

🏊 Energy Pools — How They Work

An Energy Pool is a marketplace where users who have staked TRX (and therefore generate surplus Energy) can rent it out to those who need it, in exchange for a TRX payment.

It works as a peer-to-peer market:

  • Sellers — stake TRX, generate Energy, list it on the market and earn an average APY of 15–27%.
  • Buyers — pay a small TRX fee to receive Energy delegated directly to their wallet for a chosen duration.

The delegation is native to the TRON blockchain — no custody, no private key sharing required.

1. Decide how much Energy you need (e.g. 65,000 for a safe USDT transfer) and for how long.

2. Find the best price via TronScan.energy and click the link to the provider.

3. Enter your TRON wallet address and complete the TRX payment on the provider's site.

4. Energy is delegated to your address within seconds.

5. Execute your transactions. When the rental expires, the delegation is revoked automatically — no action needed.

✅ The entire process typically takes under 2 minutes. You keep full control of your wallet at all times.
DurationBest for
10 minutes / 1 hourA single urgent transaction
3 hours / 6 hoursA trading session or batch of transactions
3 daysOngoing DeFi activity
30 daysProfessional / continuous use — best per-day rate
💡 Per-day rates are lower for longer durations. If you transact regularly, a 3-day or 30-day rental often gives the best value. Compare durations →

The savings are substantial. Example for a USDT transfer using 65,000 Energy:

MethodRateCost (TRX)
No Energy — direct burning210 SUN/unit~13.65 TRX
Pool rental (1h, best rate)~80–90 SUN/unit/day~0.5–1.5 TRX
Pool rental (30 days)~60–75 SUN/unit/day~0.3–0.8 TRX
💰 Typical savings: 80–90% vs direct burning.

Yes — the delegation mechanism is native to the TRON protocol and does not require sharing your private key or seed phrase. The pool receives your TRX payment and in return delegates Energy to your address via an on-chain transaction you can verify.

That said, as with any third-party crypto service:

  • Start with a small amount to get familiar with the process
  • Always verify the URL of the provider before making a payment
  • Never share your seed phrase or private keys with anyone
  • Use only the direct links provided by TronScan.energy

🔍 Using TronScan.energy

TronScan.energy connects to the APIs of all major Energy Pools and fetches prices automatically, updated 4–6 times per day for flex/variable rates and every 5 minutes for sell-side market offers.

To compare: select the resource type (Energy or Bandwidth), the quantity you need, and the rental duration. Results are sorted from cheapest to most expensive, showing the total cost in TRX and the normalized unit price in SUN per day.

It's the normalized unit price that makes offers with different durations directly comparable.

Total cost (SUN) = Quantity × Price (SUN/unit/day) × Duration (days)

Example: 65,000 Energy × 85 SUN/day × 1 day = 5,525,000 SUN = 5.525 TRX

A 30-day offer at 65 SUN/day is cheaper per day than a 1-hour offer at 90 SUN/day — the SUN/unit/day metric lets you see this immediately.

TronScan.energy shows you real-time sell opportunities across all pools — rates, durations, available quantities, and projected APY — so you can identify the most profitable market to offer your Energy on.

To list your Energy for sale, you register directly on the individual pool platforms (Tronify, TronPulse, Feee.io, etc.). TronScan.energy gives you the market intelligence to choose where to list and at what rate.
